Tours For The More Adventurous

Welcome!!!!   Yasuni National Park

Here is some information you might find helpful about our trips.

We visit the Noneno, Boanmo , Bameno and Waorani Communities on our trips. We have agreements with these groups to allow tourists to visit their communities. These communities are pleased to offer you an opportunity to experience their customs, food, culture, and history. You can expect late- night conversations, where the locals will share their myths and legends with you.

Please be aware we cannot visit groups who have never had contact with outside world. In general, the groups we visit are comprised of both elders and younger members . Many of the elders continue to follow their traditions, such as in clothing and beliefs, while the younger members tend to wear western dress and have adopted more modern customs.

We also tailor trips for birders, as the surrounding jungle is rich with numerous species of birds. Our native guides are very knowledgeable about the birds you will see and hear.

PLANNING YOUR TRIP

We can arrange trips to suit your needs, and you have options for the length of your trip. Most people usually fly to Quito and take a flight to Coca. There are several flights a day and the round trip costs $119.60. It is best to book your return to Quito a day after you arrive back in Coca from the jungle as the areas you are travelling are remote and delays can occur. Our company cannot assume responsibility for missed international flights in the event your return   to Coca is delayed.  Expect the unexpected!!!

WHAT TO BRING and RECOMMENDATIONS

We supply basic camping gear, such as tents, eating utensils, and food is included in the cost of your trip. Rubber boots must be worn when walking in the jungle. We are able provide boots for sizes up to 43, if your feet are larger, you will need to purchases them here. They are relatively inexpensive, As it often rain every day, and squalls can be quite strong, a full sized rain poncho  is advised. Please also bring a good working flashlight and extra batteries. A utility knife is also suggested. Sunscreen and insect repellant are essential. A hat to protect from the sun is recommended as well. It is suggested you wear dark clothing, such as black, dark blue and  green, as red or white seem to inhibit the wildlife, as these colors stand out in the jungle environment.  Ziplock plastic bags or dry bags are recommended to protect your items such as cameras, passports etc from river water or rain. Other items you may want to bring are binoculars, socks and long lightweight pants (for protection from mosquitoes ),sandals,  and  swimming suits, as well as your personal items.

WHAT YOU WILL SEE

It is possible you will see a variety of wildlife, such as numerous species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals. For example, caimans and parrots are a few of the more commonly viewed wildlife, as well as brilliantly colored butterflies. Other species you  may encounter include River Otters, Pink River Dolphins, and Monkeys.

ADDITIONAL COSTS

You will need to pay (in addition to the cost of your trip) entrance fees into the National Parks and permits.  There is a charge of $20.00 per person, for each community you visit, that goes to the community, and a $3.00 per night charge to sleep in the park. It would be much appreciated if you are able to send these funds prior to the start of your trip, so all of your permits are in order when you arrive.
